Who we are
Our website address is: https://www.hbfreelance.com. HB Freelance provides SEO consulting services and free SEO tools, including the Organic Trends application (“the Tool”) available at https://www.hbfreelance.com/get-gsc-data/.
Organic Trends — Google API Data Practices
This section describes how the Organic Trends tool accesses, uses, stores, and shares data obtained through the Google Search Console API, Google Analytics Data API, and Google Analytics Admin API. This disclosure is provided in accordance with the Google API Services User Data Policy.
Data accessed
When you use the Organic Trends tool and grant permission via Google OAuth, the tool accesses the following types of Google user data:
- Google Search Console data (via the
webmasters.readonlyscope): Search performance data including queries, pages, clicks, impressions, click-through rates, and average positions. Property lists associated with your Google account. This data covers up to 16 months of historical search analytics. - Google Indexing API data (via the
indexingscope): Used to submit URLs for indexing and check indexing status for properties you own. - Google Analytics 4 data (via the
analytics.readonlyscope, optional): When you choose to connect GA4, the tool accesses organic traffic sessions, users, engagement rates, conversions, ecommerce revenue, and landing page performance data. It also accesses your GA4 account and property list to populate the property selector, and reads the property currency setting for accurate revenue display.
Data usage
All Google user data accessed by the tool is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Displaying search performance metrics, charts, and tables within the tool interface
- Classifying search queries as branded or non-branded based on user-defined brand terms
- Calculating SEO health scores, trend analysis, and optimisation recommendations
- Joining Search Console page data with Analytics landing page data for blended performance analysis
- Submitting URLs for Google indexing at the user’s explicit request
The tool does not use Google user data for advertising, marketing, user profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the SEO analysis features described on this page.
Data sharing
We do not share, sell, transfer, or disclose Google user data to any third parties.
No Google user data is transmitted to HB Freelance servers or any other server. The tool operates entirely client-side — data is fetched directly from Google’s APIs to the user’s browser and processed locally. No intermediary servers, analytics services, or third-party processors receive or have access to your Google data.
Data storage and protection
No Google user data is stored on any server. The Organic Trends tool is a client-side application that runs entirely within your web browser. Specifically:
- All API requests are made directly from your browser to Google’s servers (
googleapis.com) - All data processing, aggregation, and analysis happen in your browser’s JavaScript runtime
- No Google user data is sent to or stored on HB Freelance servers or any third-party servers
- OAuth access tokens are held in browser memory only and are discarded when you close the tab or navigate away
- The only data persisted to your browser’s local storage is non-sensitive UI preferences: saved configuration presets (property URL, brand term patterns, and display thresholds) and annotations — none of which contain Google user data
Because no Google user data is stored server-side, there is no server-side data to protect. Client-side data exists only in the user’s browser session and is governed by the user’s own device security.
Data retention and deletion
Google user data is not retained beyond your active browser session. When you close the browser tab, refresh the page, or navigate away, all fetched Google data is discarded from memory. No Google user data persists between sessions.
To revoke the tool’s access to your Google account at any time:
- Visit https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Find “HBFreelance GSC Data” in the list of third-party apps
- Click “Remove Access”
Since no data is stored on our servers, revoking access immediately and completely removes the tool’s ability to access your Google data. There is no data to request deletion of because none is retained.
Website data practices
The following sections describe data practices for the HB Freelance website generally (outside of the Organic Trends tool).
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and the browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who do we share your data with?
We do not share personal data with any third parties, except as described in the Comments section above (Gravatar) and where visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service (Akismet).
